Nik Kershaw - Live

Nik Kershaw was a member of a number of semi professional bands in the Ipswich area during the early eighties. When the last of these bands split in 1982 Nik decided to embark on a solo career. The switch to solo artist was a successful one with Nik quickly signing a major record deal in 1983 and issuing his debut solo single the same year; I Won't Let the Sun Go Down On Me. This single was a hit although not on its original release. It took a second single Wouldn't It Be Good to become the major breakthrough that Nik was looking for and a reissued I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me was re released and quickly became a major hit.

Nik's debut album Human Racing was also released in 1983 and managed to make the top 5 of the album charts in the UK. Further albums and singles followed although these albums were seen to be aimed at a more mature audience Nik still commanded a big audience. By the nineties however he was becoming better known as a song writer and producer writing hit singles for the Boy Band Let Loose, The Hollies and a massive international hit The One And Only for Chesney Hawkes.

Following the release of his first two albums Nik Kershaw  toured regularly , something which continues to this day however the biggest gig he played in his career will always be at Wembley stadium on July 13th 1985 as part of the Global "Live Aid" concert.

The performance featured on this CD/DVD package is from the annual Montreux Music festival in 1984 and features Nik Kershaw and his band running through a typical live set of the time which included almost his entire then current album Human Racing. The performance includes tracks from the album including Cloak and Dagger, Drum Talk and also B sides from singles such as Dark Glasses and of course the hit singles, amongst them I Won't Let the Sun Go Down On Me, Dancing Girls, Human Racing and Wouldn't It be Good.

Nik Kershaw continues to tour regularly and plays to large and enthusiastic audiences and there is a proven sales record for archive material from this artist who retains a large and dedicated fan base.
