John Osborne Biography
John Osborne is a British playwright and screenwriter whose breakthrough came in the fifties with the play “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. It could be fairly said that when this particular play arrived the British theatre changed. Known for his strong language in his plays and works, John Osborne displayed contempt for many within his field and this became his calling card during his most popular period between 1956 and 1966. Another major work was “The Entertainer” a play and eventually a film, written as a vehicle for Laurence Olivier, for which Olivier won great reviews. Osborne himself was also an actor and appeared most famously in the gritty “Get Carter”.
Always seen as a critic of the establishment he left behind a body of work which is still regarded to this day and continues to be discussed and reviewed regularly.
