Peter Sellers Biography
Peter Sellers was a celebrated British actor most famed for his comedy and character roles. He initially rose to fame through the BBC radio series, ‘The Goons’. From here Peter made two comedy albums with noted record producer George Martin. His film career really began with a string of movies known as the ‘Ealing Comedies’, so called because they were made in Britain at Ealing Studios.
Further roles in successful films which were made in the UK and Hollywood followed. These included, ‘The Pink Panther’, ‘Dr Strangelove’, ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘The Magic Christian’.
More acclaim came near the end of his life, with the role of Chance in the film ‘Being There’. This role won Peter the Golden Globe award for Best Actor and also a nomination for Best Actor for the Oscars in 1980.
From the mid sixties, when Peter suffered his first heart attack, his health gave him cause for concern and he died in London in July 1980.
